HP

Cannot waittt to see this, feel like a massive geek putting it on here but its sort of relavant. Funnily enough I found this poster on a website where you can download the final film already! Anyway I watched all 7 of the previous films last weekend and am going to see part2 on Wednesdayy coz I'm poor. So can't wait they are all rediculously good and I wish I was in it haha or a part of it in someway would be amazing to do something like this as a job, hopefully one day!

Advert

Got sent this link to an advert video saying try and guess what the advert is for before it ends, its pretty impossible. Thought I would share it as its quite good and a lot of thought and detail has obviously been put in just for an advert, as it looks like an opening to a movie. Very clever ideas behind it.

Music videos

I was just watching the music channels and it always makes me want to make my own music video and hopefully one day I will but my favourite music videos at the moment are Lady Gagas. The best of hers so far I think is Judas, the costumes in her videos make it so interesting to watch because you don't want to miss something and want to notice the details. The scenes for Gagas videos link to her costumes and music for example Just Dance is set at a house party. Lady Gagas Judas video is my favourite because of how the characters are portrayed in the video through their costumes and props for example Judas and Jesus on motorcycles with guns and tattoos with gold acsessorise, it gives a modern twist on these characters.

I also really like Rihannas videos for her new album of songs Loud. She has chosen to use a theme throughout her videos of floral and natural colours and fabrics for costumes, settings and props.

I havn't got a digital SLR but am considering buying one at the moment but for now I do have a film SLR which I am in the process of using just need to use up the rest of the film and then if there are any good photos I will put them on here. I also take photos on my phone when I'm out and about so i will put a few of those on here even though there not amazing quality I think some of them are good photos even if some of them are of my dogs (:
On Tuesday I went to the DMU show to have a look at the photographers and videographers work on show that are students at DMU. There was a lot of work to see including a few videos and the students had also made business cards with their work on and sample images on postcards which I will put in my sketchbook. Here are some of the artists I enjoyed, I will write more about them later:
Joanna Smith - My mum told me to look out for her work as she knows her and it was actually quite good so I will find some samples to put up later.
Elizabeth Davie
Lucy Ebinger
Ting Ting Zhu - She had some nice black and white porait images on show that I liked

I'll write more later with pictures
The other day I watched 'Scott Pilgrim vs the World' and I really liked it so thought I'd write a bit about it. I sort of knew it would be styled a bit like a comic but I didn't realise it was based on a novel. It clearly has the criteria to fitt a post modern genre with its various inspirations such as comic phrases appearing on screen to fit the action such as 'POW'. I also noticed it uses references of video games during fight scenes with bonuses showing onscreen being an example.

I'll write more about it later after I research it a bit

The other day I went to the Ferrars Centre to look aroundd. It has random studios for arts and crafts stuff and in one of the studios I saw this artists work: William Vanscoy. The image I saw was this:
And this one:

So I looked on his website (vanscoyphotography.com) so I could find out more about him and his other work and how he creates it. He uses large format cameras and scans the negatives and produces digital files or most recently his images are digital capture and digital post-production. He sometimes combines more than one image also which is a technique I have been interested in before after looking at Corrine Vionnet's work for creative apps. The reason I like the first photo is because I like how the water looks and I would be interested in  taking photos like this and his work has inspired me to do more nature and landscape photography. So I will have a go at this genre of photography and post my own photos on here if there decent.
